Eurypterid fossil, eurypterus remipes, known as a “sea scorpion”, is the New York State Fossil. It is an extinct species of arthropod. Silurian, Fiddler’s Green Formation.
This fossil specimen is about 5 in. long and is missing its stinger (telson). 1 walking leg and 1 swimming leg are well preserved, other legs may be in the "jumble" near the upper left.
