Eurypterid fossil, eurypterus remipes, known as a “sea scorpion”, is the New York State Fossil. It is an extinct species of arthropod. Silurian, Fiddler’s Green Formation.
This fossil specimen is about 9 cm. (3.5 in.) long on a plate measuring approximately 4.25" x 2.5" x 0.5". Its head and body are well preserved; missing its stinger (telson), and legs are not apparent.
